About Genesis

There are at least three bands using the name Genesis: 1. Genesis were an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey, in 1967. The band's most commercially successful and longest-lasting line-up consisted of keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist and guitarist Mike Rutherford, and drummer and singer Phil Collins. In the 1970s, with singer Peter Gabriel and guitarist Steve Hackett, Genesis became one of the pioneers of progressive rock. Banks and Rutherford have been the only members to remain throughout the band's history.
